Christians Oppressed - in these days?

Yes. In Egypt, where the Coptic Orthodox are a large minority to the ruling Muslims.

I skimmed an article in today's Wall Street Journal about the oppression. The article is not available for free now, but I hope that it might be soon; I think the delay is around a week. It's on page A16 of the 11/18 edition.

If you email me, I'll send you a copy.

us guys can be so oblivious

I put on a pair of pants this morning, as I do every morning I go to work.

I didn't really look at them until I was already on the freeway, a few miles away from home. As well, I was running a bit behind. When I finally looked at them, I noticed a two-inch tear in them. Ugh.

So if you wonder why I have a tear in my pants today, that's why. I'm too blind to notice the tear when I could so something about it, and too late to take care of it once I do.

Woohoo!

report

Marcus is seated at his desk, deeply focused on the book in front of him. His has the appearance of a tall, dark European man in his mid forties. His presence is striking; he has an air of power and he commands respect, almost deference.

A raven flies into the room through the open window.

As the raven heads toward a landing on the floor in the middle of the room, it morphs into a tall, striking young woman in black, with fair, almost pale skin and long, straight, auburn hair.

"Report," Marcus commanded.

"I have located Dr. Douglas. He is in the home he purchased down the street from here. He has his student Edward Stiles with him; they're watching your estate. They haven't seen the operation going on outside. They seem to be alone. Shall we move on them now?", Leslie responded.

"No; let them watch. We will move on them at a more opportune and unexpected time. We have work yet to do. Is there anything else?"

"No, my lord. It was a quiet night in the City. I've seen no sign of the Lycans, but I didn't look beyond the two cities."

"Good. Go get some rest; there is much yet to be done."

"Yes, my lord."

Leslie left the study toward her room, closing the door quietly on her way out.

Marcus go up and closed the window. He picked up his book and sat down in a large, welcoming wingback chair in front of the crackling fireplace. "Yes, much work yet to be done, " he says to himself as he becomes lost in the book.

A long night

Eddie was tired. He was starting to drift. Winston nudged Eddie as he quietly walked by. "I'm awake," Eddie proclaimed.

The house was pitch dark; the only light was moonlight coming in from the sheer-covered window.

Winston thought for sure that this would be the night they would see some activity at the house across the way.

It's 3 AM, and they've seen nothing.

The house they're watching is actually a mansion -- an estate if you will -- nicely located on a 4-acre lot in one of the more affluent San Francisco Bay area suburbs. Eddie and Winston are watching from Winston's home in the same neighborhood, about a quarter mile away. Winston just bought this place, his second home in the Bay area. Winston's other home of fifteen years is across the Bay in San Rafael. It is a more modest abode of 3000 square feet on one quarter acre in a quiet neighborhood.

"Mister Douglas, I haven't seen a thing move over there. Are you sure they're operating tonight?" Eddie asked.

"I can't be certain, but it's likely," Winston replied.

"How much longer will we be keeping watch?"

"Until daylight. I need to get an idea of what they're up to."

"I'm not sure I'll hold out that long," Eddie stated.

Winston headed to the kitchen to pour Eddie a fresh cup of coffee. It seems it may be a long night yet.
