Stardust is an excellent movie

I saw the movie Stardust with my friend Esin last night. We both loved it; it's an amazingly cool movie. I think I'm going by Borders on the way home tonight to pick up the book by Neil Gaiman.

And I'm going to look at The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman as well. I saw the trailer for the forthcoming movie, and it looks excellent as well.

I saw Stardust at the recommendation of my niece, she read the book before seeing it. Years ago she also recommended the Golden Compass series, which I read and really enjoyed. Definitely read them before the movie. Be aware, they were written for a younger audience...

Kim,

Earlier this week, I got Gaiman's Stardust and Pullman's His Dark Materials series, of which The Golden Compass is book one. I'll read all of them when I'm done with Harry Potter, which should be next week while I'm on vacation.

I figured that Pullman was writing to a younger audience. I was surprised that his books were in Sci Fi/Fantasy at Borders rather than in the children' section, as is L'Engle. I'll let you know how I get on with his books.

Regarding L'Engle; I want to re-read A Wrinkle in Time. I read it when I was a child, and loved it; I wrote my first book report on it.
